Is this a Sonor Teardrop?

Loading...

Hi,

I recently found this beauty in a friend's basement. To me it looks like an old Sonor Teardrop, but I don't really know much about vintage drums. The stamp on the inside of the floor tom is "907".

Could you please take a look at the pictures below and give me some information about the line and the value of the drum set?

Thank you!

Greetings from Germany,

Martin

It is indeed a Teardrop kit, but others oif more Sonor experience will have to help with ID and value. You will need to replace the missing parts in order to maximize the value.

Not a Sonor expert either, but I agree it is a teardrop, because there is no re ring in the bass drum pic,it would be later model, the early to mid sixties had rerings,I can't remember exactly when they went to the straight shell, maybe 1966, the mount on the stand may fit the BD mount,so you might be good there, that mount would be expensive and hard to find in the U.S.as would the floor tom legs.In the u.s. a complete kit like that would probably bring around 800.00, a lot less if you have to find parts for it.A friend of mine had one,and it was a really great sounding kit for sure.

Think the 907 means 1969, 07 (July) month. 6 ply shells. Nice wrap.

If you get it, check with stdrums.de for missing pieces. They had a 13 rim last week when I was looking for some other parts.

the tom floor stand makes this kit somewhat unique. there aren't many of those around. it liberates the mounting bracket in the bass for other purposes and allows for alternate positioning, which is nice on a kit like this.----- the other thing is; if you turn the bass drum 90 degrees, so the front head is right side up, the tom still stays right side up!! your spurs will be sticking out sideways but that problem can be solved later.
