Is this a Sonor D426 snare?

Loading...

Hi all,

I would really appreciate some help regardning this vintage Sonor snare. The badge only says "Sonor". No model name. Inside it's marked "305". From what I can see on the Internet it would be a D426 made in May 1963. Am I right?

I`m pretty sure it`s a 426, does it have the wires block inside the throw ?

Thanks for your quick reply OddBall!

Yes it has the blocks. But I just have 4 of the 12 wires left.

Gotta know stuff,...is the block steel with brass screws ? ...Can you show the pics. Did you get it from the original owner ? What`s the damper look like ? ...Does it seam heavy like it was bronze or brass ?. Uploading it`s details for us to see and refer to is very useful.

The badge on yours is recently discovered and not so common. Very not so common. At first look it`s just a sixties badge,...but the shafts say 1963 now. I been waiting for someone to upload that badge with a date stamp.

First of all, I have to admit, I'm a complete idiot!

When I cleaned the outside of the shell with "autosol" some of it ran through the lug holes to the inside. So I just wiped it off. Unfortunately the datestamp were also wiped off! Yes I am an *******... I guess you just have to take my word for that it was stamped "305".

I've tested the drum with a magnet and it's not magnetic. Only the hoops, damper knob and lug screws are. It seems quite heavy. Is it made out of brass?
