Is This A Solid Shell Drum?

I don't have the skill or good enough vision to tell if my little 4x13 Radio King snare drum has a mahogany single ply shell. It looks to me like the shell has a thin mahogany ply with a thick multi-ply pair of reinforcing rings. What do you ply detectives think?

Need a picture of the bearing edges with hoop and head removed. Also another picture of the inner shell. It may just be the picture but the grain on the inside appears to be running in the wrong direction (looks vertical, should be horizontal). Drum has been re-wrapped and the factory would not have installed lug fasteners in that manner.

Point by point:

I still can't figure out if the dark wood (mahogany?) is one ply or two plies.

Pictures at end of post.

The grain may, indeed, be running vertically. But the drum is heavy unlike luan mahogany.

Of course, it's re-wrapped. I knew that from the get go.

I also wonder about the authentic Slingerland washers bending against the re-rings. It's a puzzlement to me.

This little drum was made for me by a friend's drum shop because he knew that I love piccolo snare drums. This drum sounds like the whip crack of the old time cowboy actor Lash LaRue.

From when I first was given the drum, I assumed that the hoops, throw-off, lugs, and washers were probably authentic and the shell was sourced from something other than a Slingerland Radio King.

No it's not a solid shell. The washers and screws are factory.

I believe v-more2000 meant to say the washers and screws are genuine Slingerland.

They are not factory. This is definitely not a Slingerland shell or a solid shell. Interior grain runs vertical and exterior grain runs horizontal making it some form of multi-ply. While there are some genuine Slingerland parts this is a "frankendrum". Also note the badge and lugs are not centered on the shell.

I knew that it was kluged together to make a very cool and great sounding little drum. I just found the shell construction to be mysterious.

It looks cool and sounds good. That's a score.

I am rather envious of the engraved top hoop. My Slingy doesn't have that.
