This snare does not have the original badge, strainer or butt so I'm having trouble identifying what type of drum it is. What I can tell you is that the dimensions are 14" x 6.5", it has 6 tube lugs, single flange 'stick chopper' hoops with claws, its 3-ply (mahogany I think) with reinforcing rings and takes regular 14" heads.
The bigest clue is the stamp next to the seam on the inside of the shell which has the numbers 4 4 40. Above that there's another stamp that looks like a four digit number but I can't make it out.
The shell is thin and light and it sounds great but I've never known for sure who made it and when. Any ideas?
