Is this a Ludwig?

This snare does not have the original badge, strainer or butt so I'm having trouble identifying what type of drum it is. What I can tell you is that the dimensions are 14" x 6.5", it has 6 tube lugs, single flange 'stick chopper' hoops with claws, its 3-ply (mahogany I think) with reinforcing rings and takes regular 14" heads.

The bigest clue is the stamp next to the seam on the inside of the shell which has the numbers 4 4 40. Above that there's another stamp that looks like a four digit number but I can't make it out.

The shell is thin and light and it sounds great but I've never known for sure who made it and when. Any ideas?

looks like an old 6.5x14 Pioneer. I can barely see the strainer, but it looks like part of the predecessor to the p-83...

I'm selling this drum on ebay right now so there's a few pics attached to the ad. Here's the link. Any comments?
