Is this a Ludwig Standard pedal?

Loading...

Hey Guys,

Just picked up some Ludwig Standard hardware wanting to get a set to go along with my Lemon Strata set.

Part of this trade was a Ludwig Standard bass drum pedal, or so I thought. I got home and started researching the pedal and I am not finding any Standards that look like mine. All the Standards I'm seeing have the frame with the typical single spring on the right and a leather strap. This one has a frame like a Speed King and the metal strap connecting the footboard to the beater mechanism. Was there a period of time where the Standard used the same frame as the Speed King or is this simply a case where someone put a Standard footboard on a Speed King frame?

Thanks.

That's a speedking that someone put a standard footboard on. NOT a standard pedal.

He could had bought the Ludwig book or did his own research to find the answer, but instead he came here to pick the brain of one of you fine outstanding members.

Thanks Ludwig Dude. Figured that was the case.

Bummer it is isn't all original as that is really what I wanted to complete the set but at least now I have a longboard Speed King!

I'm strictly a Rogers guy, but even I recognized the Speed King frame. What's confusing me though, is that particular Standard footboard attached to the Speed King frame. I had a Standard bass pedal and a Standard high hat quite a while ago. I loved the pedal because you could easily reverse the beater and the strap attachment and turn it into a cocktail pedal. But the Standard footboard was designed to accept a strap, not the metal connector of the Speed King...

So what's up with this Standard footboard in the OP that looks like it was designed for the Speed King frame? Could it be a high hat pedal?

Just curious,

Mike

That was the response I got from Ludwig-dude when I asked a few question about Rogers drums. I thought, ahh, just let it go and deleted it.

That's cool. I'll delete my post. No need for a thread meant to find something out to get stupid.

You might be on to something with the Standard hi hat pedal. I just measured them and they are the same length at 11 15/16" and have the same sized slot and pin in the footboard for the metal connector.
