Hi, Bill. How do you think it's 70s? It sure doesn't look as deep as 50s stamp should be.
but it's hard to tell from the pic though.
EricP: Why don't you post the pics of both top and back? Bill would tell you the clear answer with them.

The stamps on my 1950's Zildjians are the BIG 1 7/8'' stamp.
My 70's Z's are the smaller 1 3/8'' stamp.
My 1 year old 21'' Sweet ride is back to the larger retro stamp but all
new Z's now have serial numbers, not sure how long they have been
stamping the serials under the logo.
My K/Z 13'' hats from the late 80's is also a smaller stamp but it has
that K cymbal on it.
I only have 5 ride cymbals and 2 pair of hats right now.
And selling 2 rides, the cracked one and this one.
I think I'm more drum crazy than cymbal crazy. :)
Thanks for your replies guys...
The only problem is this:
You don't identify trademark types my measuring their sizes.
If you can show us just one face on top view shot of the whole cymbal, that will easily settle this.
Here's how I know I have 2 1950's Zildjian cymbals.
The nice old chap I bought the kit from last year told me he bought
one of the cymbals in about 1958 and the stamp is 1 7/8'' inches big.
So I know that cymbal is a 50's cymbal and was ONLY asking if the stamp
was a trans stamp, which it is not.
The cymbal in this thread matches that stamp exactly. I have never seen
a 70's stamp that was a 50's BIG STAMP.
I'll try to get a picture of the whole cymbal with my cruddy old digital
camera, but it is listed locally in Portland OR Craigslist with a picture here:
Thanks again...
That cymbal in the ad defintitely is a 50's large stamp.
That is my cymbal in the ad dude. :)
Yes, and what about the trademark on the one that you posted here?
That's what I'm talking about.
"The cymbal in this thread matches that stamp exactly."
Which if I'm not mistaken means that the trademark you showed here is a "match", but was not in fact taken from that same cymbal.

Lost me there man, sorry. Cool Dude
The match is on my 22'' that the old chap sold me last year.
The 22'' isn't pictured in this or any other threads.
The cymbal in this thread is a new purchase for me and is a 20'' and I
cleaned it on Sunday after I posted asking if it was a trans stamp
and it is also for sale in the above CL link.
They both have the same big 50's stamp.
At this point I'm not sure where this is headed but lets just assume for fun
that my original question is indeed answered and I thank everyone who
posted in this thread! :) :)
if there is a question in drumaholics mind. the question is not answered. not for nothin but he has more cymbal knowledge than all members here collectively. i think he was saying that one of the trademarks you speak of was not pictured. and it may be a little pretentious to identify it without some help. after all you were asking if your stamp was a "trans stamp" one of the easiest stamps to identify due to its unique impression. and it clearly wasnt.
