I do have an opinion question for everyone though. My original bass drum hoops are missing the inlay and some one at some point filled the grove and painted the hoops. I've stripped the paint and removed the filler but since oyster blue is a unicorn drum wrap I was thinking of just doing the hoops in a natural wood finish? Thoughts??
Contact Jack Lawton at Lawton Custom Drums. He still has some 60's style Oyster Blue Pearl from when he had some made 20 years ago. I just bought a piece to do a snare drum, and 2 pieces for a 14" tom (he didn't have any pieces big enough to do it in just one piece). It might not be an exact match, and you'll probably have to use several pieces, but maybe you can space the seams out so they're hidden under the claws.
