Is Steve Maxwell still making reproduction parts?

Loading...

I was looking at his website and I couldn't find any of the reproduction replacement parts that he usually has, like the Ludwig L-arms and rail mount parts. I did a search on the website and couldn't find anything either.

Anyone know for sure?

Thanks,

V

Hi V!

Steve sells his parts exclusively on Reverb for some time now. Just type in "maxwell" and you'll see his items. I don't see any of the Ludwig rail parts, though.

I had trouble finding what I was looking for on the website also. I haven’t seen any Repro Slingerland floor tom leg mounts on there for some time and that’s what I was looking for. Hopefully there are more on the way.

Why don't ya ask him? Isn't there a contact link on the webpage?

I bought a Slingerland leg bracket in person at the Illinois store right before this Covid mess descended upon us. I asked about the rail mounts and was told they were no longer available. Poking around in the back room later I saw a bunch of them in a bin, but I was told they are not for sale. Maybe a direct appeal to Steve Sr. would pry one loose (I was dealing with his two boys). But the leg brackets are apparently still for sale although, like you, I could not find them listed anywhere online, which is why I made the 2 hour drive to the store.

The repro rail mounts from Maxwell have some good points and bad points. I bought one for my Gretsch RB set and was sorely disappointed and eventually re-installed the original W&A rail mount after stripping the bolt holding the bracket to the rail on the repro.

We have his rail mount on our 1962 Ludwig Super Classics and its a first rate repro in my opinion. I'm sorry to hear that you experienced some issues with yours.

Its too bad the rail mounts are no longer available. I'm glad my son and I got ours when we did.
