Hello my name is Evan. I've been playing drums for 12 yrs now and just bought my first vintage drum set by Camco, which was custom made.
I play in a band and the kit belonged to the lead singer's uncle whom unfortunately past away in recent years. This being said, i know very little about the kit and neither did his family. So, I wanted to try and find some help identifying it's year and any other info anyone could provide. For the most part it is in great condition, aside from the scratches on one of the bass drum hoops and a few missing labels.
I've checked out the information on the site and it is very helpful, though i do have one question about the paint on the INSIDE of the first 3 out of 5 toms ( the 8"/10", 8"/12", & 14"/14"). Is it a bad idea to attempt to remove this paint if i decided to? If not, what would be the best way to do so?
I uploaded some pics of the kit below to help describe, also including a 20" Istanbul custom dry ride from an unknown year (which was signed by Mehmet Tamdeger and Agop Tomurcuk), and a 5" by 14" chrome Ludwig snare with 10 lugs (that i wasn't able to identify from the link provided at this site), both of which were also included in the purchase.
toms: painted inside ; 8"/10", 8"/12", 14"/14" (floor tom with legs) not painted inside; 12"/14", & 12"/15" (both hanging floor toms)
camco snare: 5"/14" ludwig snare; 5"/14"
BDs: 14"/22" & 14"/20"
looking forward to getting some feedback!
thanks,
evan
