Interior finish

What is the affect of the finish on the interior of drums? I've got some Rogers concert toms that have a grey interior which is not attractive. With the toms not having resonant heads the grey interior is easy to see. One of the options would be to paint the interior black. Would that hurt the performance of the drums?

Stay away from the paint can.Painting/refinishing/rewrapping vintage drums severely inpacts their resale value. To bring the maximum collector value, the drum must be as close to factory new/unaltered condition as possible. No changing of hardware, drilling holes to upgrade/hotrod their condition. If astetics is what you want, buy new drums.

Painting the interior of those drums will decrease their value by a third to a half minimum.
