How would you ever verify this story?How would you verify G.K.'s SS#?It seems plausible-after all he probably had afew dozen sets over the course of his career.This is a job for the fabulous Bun E.Carlos,collector and player of all things ancient and honorable.The "Jay Leno"of drumdom......

I'd start with the SS# search..If a simple and honest request to the Dept. of SS doesn't work maybe a P. I. or someone like that. If I was the seller I would have had a letter(s) of provenance and I would have gone to the trouble of checking out the SS# beforehand...just think how much more it would add to the auction with letters of provenance and confirmation of GK's SS#....

someone at DFO says he ran the SSN through the social security death index and it belongs to John Bunch, not Gene. Still could be Gene's drums but no way to prove it.

if the lugs are original to the the rack tom, then the diamond plate is not original to the drum because the drum is earlier. than the bass drum and mount.
