Cane across a set of these with the gold/black badge for very little money but cant recall if they were birch or maple.?Anyone know the ply config of these as well

I think the original series have the "T" badge...

Not those,but if you look under badges for Tama on this site you will see the gold badge beside the black/silver one.They are definately vintage Tama.

Yeah I believe Imperialstars were mahogany under the zola coat stuff. Superstars were birch. I love old Imperialstars. I loved them ever since I knew Stewart Copeland used them back in the 80's.
