To upload photos when posting, scroll down to where you'll find "manage attachments" and select it.

If your photos are on your computer, browse for the location of the pic, select your photo and it should upload.

You may have to re-size it too. But it`s easy.

After seeing this issue come up so many times, I thought I'd share my thoughts on posting pictures and what works for me.

The biggest issue many members have is not knowing how to reduce picture size...both the physical size and amount of memory it takes up. Pictures on VDF are limited to 1000x1000 pixels, with a maximum or around 140kb when posting as JPG, which is a fairly small amount. We've gotten to where the average user has no clue as to the resolution (picture size) and memory size a picture takes when using either a smartphone or "real" camera. Through years of use, I know that my best pictures are take with an older 7.1 Mega-pixel camera, set to a resolution of 1600x1200. This resolution has worked well for me with capturing any details I wish to show. Today's cameras, with higher pixel count, take default picture sizes of MUCH LARGER resolutions, so you need to know how to access these features to reduce the resolution. This will make it much easier to reduce the final picture size to that allowed by VDF.

Next, you need to know how to size the picture down, both in resolution and file size. I use a free program called Caesium. I found it very easy to use, although the learning curve certainly depends on the individual's technical understanding. For posting pictures to VDF, I resize to 1000x750 and set the compression anywhere between 70-80 percent, which will normally end up with a file size below 140kb. However, you do have to experiment with getting it right. While it can be just a bit time consuming, I end up with pictures that are large enough, and clear enough, to share with my fellow forum members.

As with any program, there is a learning curve involved. I hope this explanation will help others to post better pictures. Yes, I do have a beef with pictures that are not only out of focus, but just too small to see any detail. I have no doubt there may be other easier-to-use programs, but Caesium is what works for me. That's all the preaching I'm going to do on this subject!

I take the pic using my digital camera. I take it with whatever the default settings are. After I import the pic to my computer, I go into Paint on my computer and decrease the picture size to 25 %. I then save the file. Then I simply add it to the post with the software here on the forum. Works like a charm.
