If you have a 20 in. Slingerland older model...

If you have a 20 in. or larger Slingerland and the drum is covered with the original wrap, how many seams does the wrap have?

2 seams on either size bass drum... As a matter of fact, I believe the largest size you can wrap with one piece of material is a 16".

In earlier times... ( pre vintage for me )... I had a couple 18" floor toms... ( Gretsch and Pearl )... both those drums had two seams, but the 16" floor toms always had one seam.

Bass drums are two seams... at least in the sizes you have mentioned: 20", and 22"... and of course up!

Two seams, for sure.

Thanks guys for the info. Are the seams directly across from each other on the Slings or are the seams closer together toward one side of the drum?

The seams are an equal distance away from each other. In essence, the bass drum is wrapped with the material from TOP to BOTTOM, and there is always a "gap" on the bottom of the drum where more material is needed. So,

This is where the extra piece goes in. However!, and this is important:

The filler piece goes in FIRST... then the drum is wrapped from top to bottom, and this is what makes/shows the two seams/overlap. These seams are always located below where the spurs are mounted... The location of the seams on a bass drum is almost always dictated by the size of the drum. On a 20" bass drum it will be a bit lower than on a 22". And again, they are EQUAL in distance on each side of the drum.
