Identifying Year of MFG of vintage Tama Kingbeat snare

Loading...

Dear members,

I picked up this very nice vintage Tama/Star King Beat snare a few months ago. I'm a devout believer in and collector of vintage King Beat snares and am trying to figure out exactly when this one was made. If any knowledgable vintage Tama fans out there would like to take a look a stab at the year of MFG of this snare I'd appreciate and welcome any comments or opinions.

It's almost identical to the one seen in this next link exept for the lugs - which are newer "Imperial" style. Also note that mine also has the black (flying T) "Imperialstar" badge - as apposed to the black/gold "Royal Star" badge used on the first King Beat produced under the "Star" name in 1965 - the one seen in this link :

Let me know. Thanks.

Hi,

I guess this belongs to the first beginning of TAMA after 1974. They didn't produce the King Beat for a long time so it might be between 1974 and approx. 1978.

You might source it out by yourself at
