Identify My New/Old Ludwig Snare

Loading...

Hello, I was recently given this snare and would appreciate any info regarding the year/model and any other specifics regarding this snare. According to the Ludwig serial number ID site ( http://www.ludwig-drums.com/en-us/ludwig/serial-guide ), I believe it's from 1971. Thanks for any help with this topic—it is greatly appreciated.

Here are some photos that i took:

It's not 70's. It's from the 90's I think. Maybe even the late 80's.

Thanks for the info Drumguy1988... Does anyone have any thoughts on the strainer? I've Googled images and can't seem to find one that matches. Also, is this a bronze or brass shell? Again, I've never had a snare like this before and i'm trying to get a brief backstory on it.

It looks like the bronze model to me. The serial numbers on these do not follow the vintage serial numbers. This a newer drum. It is an import shell. That's why the strainer is different as well. I think the p83,p85,p86 share the same hole pattern as this one. These drums have gotten popular since Ludwig discontinued them a few years ago.
