Hello all,
I am trying to get some information on a vintage ludwig drum originally belonging to my grandfather. Based on the badge, I think it may be in the 1940s era, but any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

The picture is too small to see the badge. Can you take a close up?

WW2 U.S. Army parade snare. Rationing of steel during the war forced drum manufacturers to switch to non-metal parts. Hence the lack of lug & tension rod system in favor of the rope tension. Also, this WFL badge should be aluminum as brass couldn't be used for commercial products non-essential to the war effort.

Thanks for your help! Any idea if there is any value to it or if it is collectible?

Not a lot of demand for those 14x12's. Most of us who play rope tension drums want 16" diameters. Since that shell is undrilled, there could be some interest in the shell alone (virgin 3-ply mahogany with rerings). If that were a virgin 14x14 shell, you'd be looking at a lot of offers right now.
