I have a tom mount that is missing the flat black rubber gasket that cushions the attachment of the mount to the shell. I have been to an auto parts store but what they sold was either too thin or made from cork. I'm sure some of you veteran restorers have solved this problem.

I have bought small rubber pieces in a package at local hardware store. Check Home Depot as well. Usually comes in 6"x6" size.

Felt works just fine.
Yes Felt works, I have used the felt furniture pads which have self adhesive backing... (I don't peel off the backing)..
Another good & plentiful material is the advertising refrigerator magnets that fill up your mailbox... just use them face down.. easy to cut and trim with either scissors or a Stanley knife..

I've used leather purchased from a hobby store. Lots of colours too if you want to get away from basic black.

For lugs I once used the rubber from a bicycle tire tube. Laid the lug on the rubber and cut with a exacto knife.
