Ideal Kids Kit

Loading...

I was given an incomplete kids kit yesterday.

The brand is "ideal" of japan. It's not in good

condition. I'm trying to find a little infomation

about it before I pass it along. I.E. collector item or

or yesterday's junk.

Wooden drums (16" bassdrum has wooden

hoops and 10" floor tom)

with 60's or 70's looking

wrap. cheep looking hardware.

Any info would help.

Thanks, bbr

Welcome! The set is kind of an enigma. Some, like me, love them. As for the real "collectiblity of them they are worth well, not much. But that does not mean worthless. My 9 year ols has a set of Majestics, very similar to your Ideal set. Post some pix and we can give you better info.

Sounds like a good kids kit, reason being, bass drum is small enough for the kid to reach around the drums comfortably. If they can start mastering round the drums now all the better for them in the future.

I have seen these Japanese mini-kits. No, they don't have any collector's value, really. Nor resale value. But they are solid enough for beginner's kits.

George Lawrence has been mentioned in the past as quite an authority on Japan stencil kits.

I don't know how he responds to cold calls but you might drop him a note and see what he has to say.

Not a Guru... just interested..
