Hello,

I just got back my uncle's drum kit from his drug addict son. I would like to restore it because it is the kit my uncle learned on, made a living on, and then I learned to play on, not to mention it sounds amazing! However, it has been sitting in a closet in south Florida for the last 15 years and needs a lot of love.

I think my first step is to identify it so I can come up with a restoration plan. I was always told it is a 57 Club Date with an additional tom but I don't know that to be true. I also don't know what kind of wood they are made of because they got blown away by Hurrican Andrew in 1992. When my Uncle found them and did his restoration he painted the insides (I believe to hide water damage.)

Here are some pictures. Any help would be greatly appreciated, I have never restored a drum before.

I see 60s Club Date snare (heavily damaged), rack tom and bass drum. I also see a 70s Acrolite snare and possibly black panther rack tom and floor tom. Interesting find!

Be sure to not get too close or too far with the pics. The Black panther may have another wrap under it from the factory. Be sure too get a not too close pic of the stamps on the cymbals too.

Stuff that we are gonna wanna know. It looks like you have a cage you wont need. It wont take long to iD everything because it`s Ludwig. Unfortunately the original snare will need a ...hard to say but,....rewrap.

It`s a drum,.....Hit It !!

It looks to me that the floor tom (14") and tom with round muffler are black panther and early 70's. I'm hoping that snare wasn't a panther also but just the way it looks could of been. the bass (20" maybe) and keystone tom seems to be late 60's club date maybe black lacquer. Better pics would help though. Just a guess.

should be a fun project. I am sure many people would like to add that floor if it is a 14" to there BP sets including me. Should clean up pretty good but hope not to water damaged.

I finally got them home and unloaded. I'm going to set them up in the morning.

Oddball: Here is a pick of the ride. I have to get the years off of it to show the stamp but it sounds way better green. It's a F***ing monster.
