I've lately been watching a Deep Purple dvd called "Collection" or hits '68-76.On one of there German tv appearances i think it may be " NO NO NO".The kit appears to be either a grey or wmp finish the badge appears&seems to be different than what i've seen on early 80s Pearl kits. The sizes appear to be similar to his usual Luddys (26"kick 16"rack&18&20" floor toms.Is anyone both familiar with these model&year Pearl drums?, are they likely to be either German made or MIJ Pearls?.
Ian Paice (Deep Purple) playing Pearl drums in the 70s!.
Hi didn't switch to Pearl till the early 80's from memory so wouldn't be a Pearl that early in the piece
He did indeed ! it's what they call a " house kit", i.e in the late 60s Led Zepp (amongst other UK/American/Euro bands) on a German tv show called "" Beat Club".Alot of drummers used there (" Beat Club's") " house kit" which's a Sonor Teardrop.I.e. Bill Ward of Sabbath played such a kit on one of there promo/tv appearances as did the late&great Mick Tucker of The Sweet. You can clearly make out&see the early Pearl drums logo on both the bass drum front head&on the toms themselves.
Correction!. The DVD's called:" DEEP PURPLE HISTORY,HITS&HIGHLIGHTS '68-'76.There's a "promo clip" for "Speed King" you can clearly see that "Paicey" is playing a late 60s or 70 Pearl WMP 5pc kit, sizes appear&seem to be as per his silver sparkle/black oyster pearl Ludwig's.
Here's a little diddy with Ian from the BBC show called Rock School:

I remember 'Rock School', that brings back some cool memories.
Anyone know what model/size sticks he's using BEFORE he switched/endorsed Pro-Mark ?,
According to Paiste Profiles 2 or 3 he's using Ludwig 7B but can't find any details/info (length size etc) on them.
