i WILL buy cymbals! Last viewed: 11 hours ago

I am sure I will get some boo's, but I got a seven or eight piece set of Paiste Alpha's, with a kit I bought a while ago, and they sound pretty alright to me. I prefer the Zildjan A's, from the 60's and 70's, mostly because that is what I have always had to listen to, but those Alpha's aren't bad and don't cost an arm and a leg either. I especially like the splash and hats. The crashes all sound similar to me, loud as heck, and I only have one speed for hitting them, maxxed out! Actually now that I think about it, I moved the ride to the other side too, and play a 22" Zildjan. Scrap what I said above, find some used, quality, Zildjans! LOL.

I have some cymbals, and rarely, if ever, actually profit off of sales on here, but I won't be home for quite some time, and I have a buddy down south who is putting a kit together for his nephew that will have first dibs!

If/when I get home, I will see what is out there and if you are still looking, done-dealio.

Im not positive and by far no expert but I think I have heard you want to start with your hats when putting together your cymbals.

Oh wow! My cousin just hooked me up. A bunch of family is getting together tomorrow- my cousin will be there. He's gonna give me his backup ride as he doesn't gig anymore.

It's a zildjian Scimitar 20" ride. He said he bought it back in the late 80s when he started to drum. He said its nothing special, but to me- it is! I'm just glad to have something to use.

Now it looks like im gonna concentrate on replacing my POS hats.

Dude, I gotta tell ya -

I bought a Scimitar cymbal pack back in the 80s. I eventually got rid of all the other stuff, but kept the ride - as my only ride, until about 3 or 4 years ago. I even recorded about 3 CDs with it.

For a budget entry level ride....that cymbal is AWESOME.

I had a great day! Instead of sleeping in and wasting the day, I got up at 8 and I had all my slacking done by noon!

that's what I like to hear! I've always been a fan of the underdog.

I don't little bit a research on it and it seems that they are an entry level cymbal. however it will suit me just fine, I've been playing punk rock 15 years. we always made do with what we had at the time.
