This addiction to vintage drums is serious. I think I had better get out while I can. Im always thinking of ways to buy drums that I dont have the money for, and hanging around here just makes it worse. I have 13 drum sets and Im not evan a pro drummer, how ridiculouse is that? How did it come to this, why cant I be happy with one drum set like most people. I know families that cant afford to put decent food on there table every day, and I have 13 drum sets. So if I dissapear from here, you will know why.

Asking for support here is rather like an alcoholic going into a bar and asking for help. ;)
If you need to leave to take back control, then that's how it is. Thanks for letting us know.
One possibility I've seen a few people do is to leave for a few months. In fact one person I know took a total break from the internet for a few months. Cleanse the soul. Get your life in balance.

Jeff - Mellow out! You're going to blow an 'O' ring!
Some people just collect stuff. I have accumulated a collection of drums, and rare American coins over the years. Some guys collect vintage cars, guns, you name it, somebody has a butt-load of it in their garage or basement. Some of us just have to surround ourselves with the things we love. Nothing wrong or harmful in it unless as you say, it's taking food off the table. Even then, it's matter of getting ones priorities straight.
Enjoy them, play them, trade them for other drums, sell them, buy new ones. If it makes you happy and it's not hurting anybody else... then go for it.
What's going on? You feeling guilty?
John
Jeff a break every once in awhile is not a bad thing the forum will be here if you need to do so.
Or kick it cold turkey and send your drums to me! :)

There ya go! Tough love! LOL

I think many of us go through that thought process jeff. I know I do. working on drums, collecting drums and sharing anything I may know about the history of drums makes me feel better. my wife encourages it. we all need something I think. we could sure be doing worse. heck...ive done worse. at least with drums, we have something to show for it. and done correctly, it can be a nice investment as well. like anything, we need to do it in moderation. my personality gives me challenges with that aspect from time to time. so, I feel ya. hang in there man. enjoy what you have. cut something that youre not loving or don't need if necessary. keep the hard to replace stuff..

Sell some kits and settle for your favorite ones!
Yea , Im in deep s@#$ now . Tomorrow, I`m going to see a dude that has been collecting for 55 years ! vintage stuff! And wants it gone! Stay tuned. Can you you say pockets full of hundred dollar bills !!Truck loads of stuff! I hope not, but we will see tomorrow.
I decided to cut back after owning 6 kits. I cut back to 2. I cut down from 32 snares to 15. Now, I'm back up to 4 kits. When I feel the need to scale back, I do. When I want to indulge, I do.
