I picked up an old Broadkaster Last viewed: 3 days ago

So, This guy posted this drum on CL over and over for at least 6 months.

He was really hard to pin down.

He didn't respond to emails, he wouldn't give me a number to call or text.

I sent him my number several times in an email and he would never call me.

Then he would email me asking if I still wanted it.

After a while of hit and miss I just gave up and quit trying.

I would see him bump it every now and then.

He lowered the price a few times but there it sat.

I hit him again about it.

Same issue. Slow to no response.

I gave up again.

Then last week I saw him bump it again with the price even lower.

So I figured oh well, let's try again.

So I emailed him again telling him I really wanted to buy it but was frustrated with how hard it seemed to be to get a hold of him.

I gave him my number again.

I got a response the next day.

He apologized for it being so hard to pin down and agreed to meet up.

He even texted me.

So, I go meet him at our pre-arranged meeting spot.

I was ready to pay him his posted price but he told me I could have it for less since it was a pain in the butt.

Then because neither of us had correct change he gave it to me even cheaper.

I was pleased.

I was prepared to search around for the missing parts.

Then he pulls out a plastic bag and says "here is a bunch of the old parts that were on it. Take them with it."

Needless to say I am thrilled with this drum.

The first pic is how I got it. Guitar Dude Man

I do have a funny problem with it though.

All the nickle plated hardware has a killer patina on it. (which I am not going to clean btw)

Except for one lug.

It looks like either someone tried to clean it and gave up or maybe it had a broken lug.

It also has 2 new tension rods.

I need to find 2 of the original Gretsch 2 3/8th t-rods.

It also came with 2 incorrect throwoffs.

One WFL P83 and a newer P86.

So as you can guess the shell has 2 extra holes and I need to find an early Gretsch 4 point throwoff.

I believe the butt plate to be correct.

If anyone has any parts that I need for this that they want to sell please pm me because I will be on the hunt. :)

Very cool! I don't see the grommet in your pics of bits, but I guess it was there or you already had one...

You could mist some salt and vinegar on that lone shiny casing, I think. Let dry and rinse with water/repeat. Works on cymbals anyway, tho I realize that's a totally different metallic combination...

Yeah, I found an old grommet in my parts bin.

I will probably order a few from Precision but for now it's in there. :)

I just love the Rocket lugs.

They have a real art deco look about them.

I have the OG 12 strand wires too.

It is a little stretched and is missing one wire.

I would like to find another or reuse it.
