Loading...

I have just recentally got back into drumming. I purchased a set Premiers (used) and cant seem to find someone that could tell me what series they're from and the value of them. I got them for a great deal and just want to know what model they are. If you have knowlege about Premiers please e-mail me and let me know.

Hello,

beautiful kit! Must say that - besides my vintage Star's - I have a fondness for early Premier's. My 'Premier 2000' snare drum has the same lovely lugs like your's. I like those 'one piece style' lugs, also for the rest of the set.

Now, concerning your question for the production date: you may be successful here:

Value? Sorry, I'm not an expert for that.

Nice Set! Though the one piece lugs would date the kit, that's quite a new mount on the bass drum. I'm pretty sure the circular hole style came in early to mid-90's.

Ralf/Brody,

Thank you for taking the time to answer my questions. Here's some pics of the shell interior. The old guy I bought them from said they were Birch and Germen Beech wood shells.

I only gave up $150.00 for the 5 shells, all in perfect condition...Do you think they're worth at least that?

They're worth much more (here in Europe). I can't speak for the American market.

I'd say (for Europe ...) $ 400 - 600 according to your statement regarding it's perfect condition.

Well like I said they're in perfect cond.

The edges on the kick are beveled, looks to me like 40-45 degrees. What does this mean? I read about "Beveled Edges" on some of the higher end kits i.e. Yamaha Absolute Customs, Tama Grandstar & Stage Star, etc.... but not really sure what it means. Understand I'm just getting involved back into drumming and i'm not up on everything.

I may need some advise on drum heads, and other stuff I hope you guys dont mind. I'll put new threads up for differant subjects...

I did do some research and saw a picture of a set similar to mine. Same exact lugs and badges, I believe they were called "Projectors". What really made me think mine may be projectors wasn't the Badges or lugs matching, but the shell of the bass. The Projector shells were 3 layers of Birch and 3 Layers of Germen Beech wood for the bearing edge. When you look at the edges of mine you can see two differant kinds of wood, dark like Beech wood on the bearing edges and light, like Birch on the inside, and you can see the 3 layers of Birch really well and the 3 layers of German Beech good too. The pics below are the Projector series and a pic of my beveled edge. The tom mount looks exactly like the one in the picture.....What do you think? Could I have figured it out?

Quite possibly! The most important thing is they are quality shells - not painted black on the inside! I know resonators used to have the model name under the main badge in the early days, but they probably did away with that on all ranges later on. They stopped making Reso's in 1993 I think - so I'd guess your set is nearer that time, judging by the hardware. A great buy though!
