Now in the roughly 20 years I've been playing I've seen myself advance as a player. I've even seen guys who were better than me, no longer be able to hold their own next to me. Now I attribute this to always being diligent with the basics ( always comes back to the basics ) and always wanting to further myself as a player. But never have I boasted about myself. I'm not the guy who walks in the room and says I'm the best, I don't look down on any other players. That's not how I roll. But something happened again this week that just confirms how good I actually am. A very well known band from CT who is signed and has three full albums out ( been together since 2002 ) recently parted with their drummer, bassist, and rhythm guitarist. After they made the announcement the singer found me on Facebook and asked me if I'd like to audition. From what I know I was the first guy they asked. It's just nice to know that I have friends who highly recommend me, and other people who can see my talent from watching me in whatever bands I've been in. Always nice to feel appreciated for your abilities. Especially when you've put all the hard work in.
I guess I'm a good drummer...
Not a Guru, just addicted to drums

A Keystone era acrolite or supraphonic makes me sounds waaaay better than I actually am or will ever be. thanks Ludwig!
Congratulations! It is very rewarding to be recognized for your talents especially when you have worked so hard to get there.
I appreciate that you keep a humble attitude toward others because, let’s face it, there are only a few people that are good enough to be jerks about it and even that kind of makes them not so good in my eyes. In those moments I’d rather learn from a moderately skilled player with a great attitude than the “best” that is a complete jerk. Joe Morello, one of my all-time favorite drummers, always had a humble spirit and highly valued learning the basics and practicing. He believed that anyone could be a good drummer if they practiced enough with the proper technique. A very different viewpoint was had by Buddy who believed that you either had it or you didn’t and no amount of practice was going to change that. I can see validity to his point too but he was always kind of smug about it. In the end I like both of them as drummers but Morello takes the spot as my favorite because he was a humble guy who wanted to see others succeed.
I hope you continue to learn and grow as much or more in the next 20 years. Keep up the good work!
You must be over the moon - congratulations! Let us know how the audition goes, either way.
Well that's great news. Good luck and please let us know how it goes.

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.
That's awesome, good for you. Just imagine yourself killin the audition and you will.
Congratulations!
Best of luck!
