I found Super Ludwig from 1923!

Can we see the interior of the drum and better pictures of the strainer and butt side. Condition is a huge factor and parts for the both of them are hard to find and expensive.

The extra hole for the heater and the condition of the badge is also important.

It also looks like some tape was used to hold the badge in place and it would be nice to see the inside.

The snare guards alone can sell for $120 each and rarely ever come up on Ebay. (you can buy new copies and they sell for at least $75 plus $8 for the clip and screw!)

I can't make heads or tales on the finish since the picture is so blury.

It is a faded gold sparkle with black age spots called "freckles". The hardware is nickle over brass, not the "Stippled" or "Artgold" as suggested. There is a pink lavender one on eBay and goes off tomorrow. It is at $471 at the moment. It is a "Professional" model, not the Super as you have here. Value as is, and what the market has been in the last 6 months is between $300-$400. I see an added "heater" hole and maybe a taped on badge??

Condition is a lot in vintage drums...if someone offered you a couple hundred, and you were happy with that, I wouldn't say you're being ripped off. The extra holes, and bad finish condition really bring down the value.

Why? I haven't sold it yet, hes sending payment monday. Is he ripping me off?

The parts alone are worth 400.00-600.00.

If you made the deal then you should stick by it...you may try communicating honestly with the buyer re: your ignorance (not a slam) on the price of a drum like that...

The snare that went for $1000, was a rare finish (lavender) drum in real nice, original condition. A year or two ago, these were selling for two grand. There's a nice, brass super on ebay now, complete, and in nice, clean condition, with a BIN for $1000.
