After seeing that one I'm guessing this one is also a 2-way.

A lot to think about here. 1. The drum is somewhat rare , especially if it's the 3-way tuning model. Make sure that it is the 3-way model. 2. Between Arnie Lang, Steve Maxwell, Chet Falzerano and even AK Drums you should be able to score the correct strainer. 3. My vote would be to get the drum, walk in with two 100 bills and a 50 dollar bill and see what happens...if it's no then hand him the other 100 dollar bill and move on. 4. Once you get the drum all fixed up and correct I think that you will have a great drum for your collection...not all vintage drums would be worth that much effort but I feel this one deserves it. If anybody has a moment to explain.... what is three way tuning?

A Billy Gladstone invention...the three-way tuning allows you to tighten the 1. top head...2. the bottom head... 3. both heads at the same time...all from the top. There's more detail but that's the jist of it... BG invented this to eliminate having to tighten/loosen by turning the drum upside down during a performance. BG was an orchestral percussionist so this was a major development. Chet Falzerano can elaborate more on this as he is the expert on BG and his patents.

someone bought the drum unfortunately not me. probably one of you. anybody??? I'm told that the buyer is from Michigan.

Ok now I am curious. I know nothing about these drums but after doing some research I understand the two and three way tuning, but I don't understand how any drum could be two way only. It seems the only difference is the key.

I must be missing something.

Unfortunately, that's the risk when posting to this forum. :( Especially a rare drum like a Gladstone.
