Most photos will need to re resized for website limitations. Several programs will do this. I use MS paint myself - quick and east.

I've always been aware that the max width is 1000 pixels. As to the jpg file size, I thought it was around 140k, not 100k. In fact, I've had no problems uploading pictures around 150k, as it seems the website is able to compress that a bit.
