i just got a beautiful 28" bassdrum.

however, the front head has been painted on some time ago.

what chances are there, to get rid of the paint without damaging the head?

thanks!

I removed old (and ugly) paint on a calf head by using a trapezoidal cutter blade as a scrapper.

The trick is to "shave" the head in a smooth movement. In order to minimize the risk of puncturing the head I had rounded the 2 tips of the blade with a file. Better have the head installed on the BD: it will be easier to "shave" under some light tension.

Post a pic before you mess with it. It may have historical value to many of the collectors here.
