Lucky,

Nicely done! I assume you match the plug cutter size to the forestner bit so the plug fits snugly. What kind of glue do you use ?

Thanks for your help Jumping2

Thank you everyone, this computer stuff is a challenge for me so thanks for the kind words. Yes, you match the plug to the bit size. I generally use tightbond wood glue for things that don't have glue on them . If something came apart at a glue joint, a re-ring for example, I would use Gorilla glue. Kelly let me know if you have a hard time making or finding pugs. I could make a bunch and send them out, it is no big deal.

I am restoring my so called 20" rogers floor tom. I stripped the drum down and It has some extra holes in it also. Since I will be rewraping the drum, is it necessary to plug the holes with wood plugs or can I just fill the holes?

The extra holes Aparently the rogers swiv o matic legs were not original for this drum. The extra holes are where the original leg mounts were bollted on.

There is also 3 tiny holes going horizontal at the top of the drum. it ddidnt have a traditional hole with a grommet in it. This site really rocks!

You can use whatever you want. Sound wise I don't think it matters if the holes are filled or not. For me it is just part of my anal retentive behavior to try to bring the shell back as close as possible to its original state.

Well said..Toilet

It looks like those holes are small enough to fill with plastic wood??

Man, I have not used Plastic Wood in years! If it is something that Really won't be seen I will just take some sawdust, from the project I am working on, and mix it with some glue, rub it in and sand it.

Yesterday I was at my friends cabinet making shop...and he has a great method.

Chopsticks. They are tapered...so they can fit a lotta hole diameters easily. Saws and sands down quickly.

I thought that was brilliant (for a rewrap application, at least).
