Use a very mild dish detergent and water mix SPARINGLY and only damp - not wet. GENTLY work it in a small area and GENTLY go back over it with a clean damp cloth - not wet. Make sure you work in line with the grooves. Don't work against the grooves...that will make a mess of it. It will take some time, but it's worth it.

Please post some pics. Which of the Astros are you fortunate enough to own? Those Standards are some special drums. Love 'em.

Wow Man Thank You for such a great and quick reply. I just picked up the set yesterday unexspectedly from Guitar Center. It was used and traded in that morning. It's a Ludwig 1968 Silver Astro Finish. I got it for under $300!

Complete origanal hardware, snare,Kick,Floor Tom and Rack tom.

Its in great shape just a little discolored maybe because of age? hopefully cleaning it works. :) The only pic I have is from my phone in the store...

Sweet looking kit Josh! Man I love the finishes on the Luddy Standards, so unique! Sounds like you got a heck of a nice deal too. Welcome to the board!

Hey! Nice grab. That is indeed the Silver Astro finish. What are the sizes? It looks like it might be a 20,12,14 with snare. Is that correct?

That hihat stand, cymbal stand, and foot pedal are not original to this kit. It almost looks like a Yamaha hihat, a Rogers fp, and maybe a tama cymbal stand. Real hard to tell, though.

Make sure you check the rerings and edges when you take it apart to clean it.

Oh yes youre right... not ALL origanal hardware. The high hat is a yamaha, as for the pedal im not sure but its kind of an army green color and looks very old. the snare stand is origanal I think. I'm not a drum Guru just a guitar player :) My son is the pro LOL! I do appreciate your help sooo much!!!!!

Oh man. That is such a cool kit. Ya gotta love those Standards! So very cool looking and such a genuine vintage tone. I may pick up another set of 'em. I'm looking for the 20 and 14 to match my strata kit. Long wait, but I'm patient.
