How the devil does one date Tama drums?

Hey Folks: Just picked up an old Swingstar and Imperialstar that appear to be late '70s or early '80s, and I'm trying to find a matching snare. I contacted Hoshino (Tama) and they're taking a little bit, so I figured I'd reach out on here. I'd also be curious as to what changed in the way of design, since it seems like those from '70s and '80s seem to sound markedly different. P.S. Photos are numbered for easy*

While you're waiting for some expert/knowledgeable commentary, Tama has a great online resource for the old catalogs for you to search through.

Here's the link for the index: http://www.tamadrum.co.jp/anniversary/index.html
