As long as it's not IN my garage, that's okay. Ask Kevins about my sauce I make. I'm all up for it, I love to cook for friends, and I have enough kits to keep half a dozen people busy...
How Old is a vintage drummer? Last viewed: 30 seconds ago
Another batch is in the works, I'm actually tripling the recipe, I have a huge aluminum steam pot I use for cooking it.
Last time we made some we had something like 140 ounces of the stuff and it's gone, and it was made before Memorial Day Weekend.
My wife and I agreed on asking all our local friends to donate what they could to cover the cost of bottle, jars and materials. So far nobody has said they don't want anymore this year....:)
I would love to pay for a couple. Please let me know the particulars.
I didn't really start this thread as a survey and these numbers can be skewed by so many factors so this is in no way conclusive. Although I might take your advice mcjnic and do some real research.Based on the responders who included ages..age........drummers responding....- 19....220 - 29....530 - 39....740 - 49....950 - 59....1860 - 69....370 +........2
So here are the updated numbers, still not scientific, but maybe interesting to think about.
P.S. I'm always in for good BBQ and drums!
1966 Kent Kit
1969 Ludwig Standard Kit
1970 Rogers Power Tone Kit
1970's Ludwig Vistalite Kit
1994 Yamaha Maple Custom
2010 Yamaha Maple Custom
28 assorted snares (including some real crap)
and 1 really nice K Zildjian Istanbul
22 @ 50 and above
21 @ 49 and below
mine isn't up here yet.
Add mine to the mix and it's ...
22 @ 49 and below
Half of the respondents are younger than 50. Half are 50 and older.
+ 1 fifty and under.
And another to plus fifty.
fifty seven here.
Interesting mcjnic, and with newly updated numbers, (edited) now 23 above 50 and 23 below 50, of course factors like life expectancy, computer literacy, income, health, etc. can also have an impact.
Another way to look at it would be to say that 39.2% nearly 40% are between 50 and 59 yrs old.
And if you use late 40s to early 60s, say 46-64, an 18 year span, then it's 53%.
So when do you turn 50? Do you think it will be tramatic? I didn't mind 30, not crazy about 40, but 50 was a tough one, it's down hill from here!

I have this theory that the majority of vintage drum collectors are in their 50's or older which can influence which drums are most collected and collectable.Im sure some are 30s and 40s but most of the guys I know are older. Mostly 50's and 60's.Thoughts?
I went off of the original post. I used 50 and above because that was the intent here. 50's and older.
