I bought this a few months ago and didn't realize, at the time, that I was getting a collector quality kit.
It's not a kit for me because I play my kits. And, I play out mostly so they get moved and gigged and (yes) beat up.
I have only played this in my studio and only a dozen times or so.
It would be a shame to gig this kit and ruin the collectivity.
Plus, it's really not the kit I play. I play a much smaller kit, usually. If I do end up gigging this, I'll probably do it in the cocktail configuration rather than dragging the entire kit around.
These old Rogers kits weight a ton. LOL
As best I can tell, it's a 1960 - 62 Cozy Cole (not the Grand Award).
13 Rack, 16 Floor, 22 Kick and 14 snare.
Black diamond pearl.
Chrome is 9 or 10 throughout.
Hoops have been re-painted but the inlay on both hoops is 100% with no cracks or lifting. Even at the staples.
Finish is near perfect throughout with no rash anywhere.
Includes the upkick pedal for the floor tom with the original beater.
Includes the hardware arms that mount the snare and the tom to the kick drum (or to the floor tom for the cocktail conversion).
The snare has the collet and collar in the shell for mounting.
Hmmm, not sure what else to say.
What I really am asking is... Is this one of those kits that's worth $2000 - $2500?
It's a little rare and it's in 8 or 9 condition.
It does have hairline cracks in most of the lugs. None are bad or broken but most have a hairline crack you could feel with your finger nail.
Sorry I don't have better pics but I'll get a lot of detailed pics if I decide to sell it.
