18,603,258 sets (including Gretsch). Do I win? :-)

Seriously, a profound question. How cool would it to be to actually know. Heck, it would be interesting to know the total number of sets in the hands of active forum members. I'll go first: 1

Three 1960's Rogers 64, 66, 67

Two early Big R Rogers 77, 78

Three XP8 Rogers 80, 83, 83

Total ....... 8 sets.

33 Vintage Snare drums between 1963 and 1984.

As for the death and dying part....... The estate sale will be a blast!

My latest score was a big -r Xps kit. Cant wait to get them finished.

But I have 13 drum sets and , well I need to count them but about 5 or 6 snare drums. Three of them are nice acros.

Jim-If you visit that pawn shop ask what he wants for the silver sparkle Rogers tower kit. Wow, I've never seen a pawn shop with so many drums.

bmw202 you have wonderful taste in drums... that Rogers Tower kit is at my house now. :)

I took those pictures several year ago and not long after I went back and worked out a deal for that kit. It was incomplete and very dirty but it cleaned up nicely.

Sorry I had missed this thread.

My only input is that I'm beginning to think there are a LOT of high schools and colleges out there with stockpiles of vintage marching (and concert) drums stashed in various rooms. I got in on a couple of scores of this nature this year (schools finally cleaning out) and am always looking for more!

It's the nature of how the schools may be tied down to policies on how they can dispose of any property "fairly." And of course a vintage P-83 is a vintage P-83, whether it comes off a marching drum or a Jazz Festival...

Jeff -- 13 drum sets? And no, you'll never sell them off now, will you? :)

I'm finding it harder and harder to sell any of my vintage drum set stuff... so I guess the "collecting" bug has hit me, too! But I have no problem refurbishing a MIJ/MIT kit for resale, and no problem re-habbing marching drums for schools... so IMO, there's a lot still out there!
