How many Supras do you own? Last viewed: 7 hours ago

My '67 Supra is the first vintage drum that came into my possession...was a freebie with the first kit I bought. I had to replace the badly rusted hoops and rods. Lots of chrome had peeled off. I sandblasted the rest off - which was NOT a wise way to remove the chrome, and I wish I hadn't - and my now-mother-in-law painted a oyster like scheme with different shades of metallic blue. It sounds great, but did you expect any different. ;) I also acquired a '67 Acro a month or two ago...haven't had time to clean it up yet, not that it needs much. It sounds OK the way it came to me. I'm sure it'll sound better after I tune it up.

Ya know... she actually didn't do a bad paint job. I like it! Looks almost like a blue Bowling ball finish.

It really does. If I remember correctly, I pulled up a pic of DWs blue oyster (this was in 2000). I knew of Ludwig's black oyster, but hadn't heard of blue oyster at the time. I sure wish I had, and asked her to do it like that. It's close enough, though. I like it and it sounds great...that's what counts.

Thanks for the compliment, John!

At this moment I have 6 (4-402's and 2-400's)...But I have one 402 and one 400 for sale at the bay...Theyre pristine! Please do not rub salt on the wound! I didnt want to sell em but the Boss (wife) made me do it! ...I had the transition COB and the KS COB in the past too (both sold) but they just didnt make it for me (Please forgive me Purddie!)...I just prefer the good ol' 402...Now, Lynn! Yours is a work of art, Pal! I love it!

I've only got one. It's dated late '68 or early '69. It is one of the finest sounding drums that I own. I'm open to other Supras though. I'm always on the lookout for vintage drums that I think will sound good, so my collection could easily grow.

I 'forgive' you my son, now go and sin no more! LOL

Vinnie - some drummers don't like the way brass 'rings' - they like the drier sound of the aluminum/Ludalloy. I love all those overtones and clangs out on the edges of the head I can get from a brass shell. I like to play a lot of New Orleans Second-Line stuff on the snare drum and a brass shell just gives me all bing-bang-boom I need to get that sound. I love regular supra's though, I've owned a bunch over the years, but for my money, for the sound I want, the COBs are the te-ta's!
