I am getting back to finishing up my Kents that I bought last summer. I went back to the coopers vintage drum site to re-educate myself somewhat. Mine have the white badge which puts them in the 50's to early 60's range. I plan to go over all the edges and get some new heads for them. Now that my mind is on Kent drums I was wondering how many guys have Kent drum sets.

I myself think these drums are pretty cool just because of the history behind them. It will be interesting to hear what others have to say, good or bad. We already know they were inexpensive drums put together in a sloppy sort of way at times. I also need a few parts, I have listed them in the wante section.

I have an old 13" snare, calfskin heads,straight rims w/collar hooks. It has a small cymbal mount with the small original cymbal on it. I have the original old snare stand also. It's cute.

I have some Kent snare lugs FS..........will try and post pics later today.....

Kents sorta remind me of Czechoslovak Amatis. You know, cheap, not that great drums, but still somehow nostalgically loved by some and hated for construction flaws by others.

I like my Amatis and I like Kents. Guess I've always had a soft spot for underdogs.

I bought this 9x13 tom on eBay a few years ago. Like I've said a few times on this Forum....I can't usually buy the snare drums I like....too much $$$...so I started a collection of toms. Often, but not always, they're a little cheaper and fit my budget.

The finish now looks like a Ginger wrap...but I'm told it's most likely faded to this from the original. The hoop holes are not lined up to the lugs and I've read where that is not uncommon with these drums. I tweeked the drum a little and sorted that out. If I didn't do that the t-rods would end up stripping out the lugs in time.

The batter head looks like it's an original (E. W. Kent Stamp).

Can anyone here tell me what era the Ludwig tom tom head is from.....60's - 70's or later?

It's a good sounding drum - I like the foil badge...it's not in bad shape...a little wrinkled...The finish is in good shape too other than the fade-to-Ginger.

The drum does sit in with my late 50's Gretsch kit sometimes and the drums get along fine.

Picked this up from Ebay a couple months ago. 1950s Vibratone, made by Kent. NOB hardware with a really unique strainer.

I have 3 of those nickel lugs..no lug inserts....was wondering if they were Kent or not..

"To a smoker..it's a Kent"........<(an old Kent cigarette commercial they used to play on TV!)..

Didn't Buddy use to smoke Kents?

Yes it is common to have crooked lugs on Kent drums.
