BosLover,...Is that Bruce ??

I`m in the trades and been working with wood all my life. 15 years ago I went into the woods and found tree branches from various trees, in various areas, I also took trash doors made of Brazillian woods, and New England is full of homes from the early 1900s`all of the 1800s` and some from the 1700s`, These homes contain lumber from trees you can`t harvest anymore such as redwood, birdseye maple, and these trees where 3,4 and even 500 feet tall and ten feet maybe twenty feet thick, dumster dived a few times until I had my like`n. Trued them up on the table saw, into one by one stock three feet long, cut them at 1`6" and used my favorate sticks as templets on the other side of the lathe when I turned My own sticks !! Don`t use Apple, Cherry, or other fruit trees, too many knots. The best are old, or driftwood and wood you find at the high tide line on the beech !! I still have a few of them left !! I could buy sticks too !! The old woods were always kiln dried cuz fuel was cheap back then !! Now, it`s an option.

Sticks from stone have crossed my mind !!

It`s a drum,.....Hit It !!

Sonorforlife2000, Would those be the second generation with two heads ??

Yes they are. All of the toms have resonants, they aren't the concert toms with just batters.

maybe hammerd at the factory???

From BosLover

What exactly does that mean? What was it hit with, a hammer? I know of no sticks that would dent a cymbal like that, crack it maybe if struck incorrectly, but not dent it.

Hey oddball, ever been over at the sonor museum message board? You'll come across one pretty quick but they run about 300.00 maybe a little less, maybe a little more. I have a d555(5x14) that has plenty of volume. Maybe consider one in a shallower size to keep the price down. I would like a d508.

BTW i'm playing a 10 pcs. rosewood phonic kit(one of my sonor sets) so you're not alone here with the vintage sonor!!!

Back to cymbals, i'm not sure maybe 50 or so. Just put up a cymbal wall with music store hangers, not finished yet but when i'm done i'll post some pics.

Gary.

I wish I had a wall to put my cymbals on. I have most of my drum kits and guitars in one room. I started remodeling the room for my instruments and ended up rapainting and reflooring my whole house!!!

Hehehe Poppy, i know what you mean. I had to remodel the house before i got my own drum room though. Wifes orders...

BTW very nice collection. For the wall i used slatboard from Lowes and some hangers i found from www.stringswing.com kind of pricey but its worth the investment.
