Does anyone have any idea how many 1970's 6.5 x 14 Black Beauty's were manufactured. I wanted to get an idea of how rare they are or are not.
Thanks again.

Ludwig didn't keep numbers or stats of drums sold.
The 402 BB's appear regularly in the market and go for a grand or two depending on condition from what I've seen.
They came out around 1977 and continued until sometime in the early 1980s. Like Bun says Ludwig didn't keep sales records, but I'd think a safe estimate would be that they would have sold at least a couple hundred a year, at least at the start. This apparently trailed off enough that they did discontinue the BB model at some point (but brought it back later).
Still I suppose they are relatively rare compared to Supras or acros, but they are not almost impossible to find like some other models or particular finishes are.
