How can I remove the spring in a 64 Ludwig 1123 flat based hi hat stand

Loading...

Hello All,

Newbie here so sorry if I've posted in the wrong forum. I just completed my first drum restoration project and assembled an early 60's Ludwig Super Classic set from all orphan drums and made them into a Ringo set. Yes, I recovered them. I'm hoping you all won't string me up after you see the pics. I hope to get them posted very soon.

I want to take the spring out of the hi hat and clean/grease, etc., but can't figure out how to get it out of the tube. Can someone please help me? Also, does anyone sell these springs as replacements? It seems a little weak and I have another 66-67 hi hat that seems to have better response. Excellent site here. Looking forward to becoming a regular poster.

Thanks for any help.

Ludslinger Tex
