Hoshino

Dudes,

Sorry to contradict, but these aren't the same Hoshino as the Tama family Hoshino Gakki. I wish I could give full details, but I clearly remember this from a late 70s International Musician & Recording World review of them. They explained that while both companies had similar names, the Hoshino set reviewed was not related. The first drum pictured resembles Tamco drums, a mid-80s Superstar look-alike.

As I recall they weren't especially exciting, the one distinctive feature I can remember was that the toms had more lugs than usual. The 13" tom for example had 8 lugs, as shown in the pic of dno's set.

BTW, this review was from '77 or '78, at which time Tama had already been in full swing for 4 or 5 years under their new name.

mmmmm....interesting that there were 2 Hoshinos.

Gotta say, though...the pic of that shell interior of Danno's kit...that is a GOOD shell, it's not the more typical Japanese Luan/Shia job which was coming out of Japan then. Outer ply finish also....Whichever nmfr. it was, Danno's kit is no slouch...those are good shells.

Dno's kit does more resemble the more typical Japanese stuff coming out around then; so I could see how it might not be directly related to Danno's (?).

Pretty reasonable for a MIJ drums with the extras. If you like them go for it.

As far as i know there is Hoshino Ghaki wich is STAR and is TAMA by now - and then there is the Hoshino Kougyou Company-but this were two different companys!

You should ask user Ralf-he is the man for that;-)Yes Sir

As far as I know drums with the Hoshino badge are the Hoshino Kougyou. The lugs don't match the star lugs either.
