Hoshino 10 Lug 22" Bass Drum & 16" Floor Tom

Loading...

Hi

I've got a 1970's Hoshino 10 Lug D/H 22" Bass Drum & 16" Floor Tom in their original 1970's gold wrap. Just wondering if it's worth picking up a few more Toms to make a complete kit out of it, or whether to pass it on. The Lugs are really nice. I don't think I've ever played Hoshino Drums in the past but just wondering what they sound like? and whether there's anyone who has got some spare shells out there. Thanks. Mike.

Member Jon Petersen has a soft spot for Hoshino, if I recall correctly.

You may use the 'Search' bottom on top of this page to find all posts about Hoshino (attention: your's is the 'Hoshino Kougyou' brand name - don't mix it up with 'Hoshino Gakki', which is Tama today).

Hoshino drums may not sound too bad, but it may be very difficult to find additional other drums from this brand.

Hi Mike, I recently had a whole Hoshino kit, same era same colour. I paid £90 for it. The matching toms are quite unusual in that both the 12 and 13 each have 8 lugs to and bottom! Which is a lot of chrome! But sadly, not a mark of quality. The bearing edges were awful; the shell material was very cheap. You may also have trouble sourcing the tom holders, they are quite rare. I ended up putting a Premier tom mount on my bass drum (sturdier) before I eventually sold it all on. Must say though, I loved the finish on the kit, very retro. Doug
