Ok, today I took a good look at some old drums that have been stacked in the corner for some time. Three of them have me a bit stumped.

Two are Pearl concert toms with a horizontal grain. It appears this is an inner ply placed over the existing plies. My question is did Pearl ever do this or was it done by a previous owner? The work is very good.

The third is a tom with Ludwig lugs. The drum appears to made of something other than wood, possibly fiberglass. In the photo I have removed two lugs and you can see it is white underneath. The white is almost like plastic.

The first two pictures are the Ludwig tom. The third and fourth are of the Pearl tom.

As always any feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks

Dean
