Homemade Bass Drum Spurs

Loading...

OK, so this may sound crazy to some, but I was in Home Depot recently and just happened to notice in the section where you find wooden dowels that they also carry metal rods in a variety of diameters. They even have 'em in stainless steel. These would make a great homemade BD Spur. Just get the right diameter, cut it to length, file the ends smooth and put a rubber foot on each one. Voila! Maybe it isn't authentic, but....sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.

If you're trying to sell a bass drum that's missing the spurs, wouldn't this be better than nothing?

And, while I'm on this rant, it would work for Floor Tom legs, too.

I found some here

I ordered two 14 inch long 5/16ths diameter stainless pieces as substitutes for the hard to find early sixties "skinny" Slingerland bass legs.

They work and look just fine.
