Nice job on the spurs... Is that the exact diameter of the originals ? .. I may try & get some SS rod down here?.. probably too heavy for the Mail..

Cheers

Yes John, it's 3/8ths, as are the originals, and comes in 36" lengths for $5.78 Home Depot. I may be mistaken as to whether or not it's stainless but it's shiny, like chrome, very hard and it is magnetic. I was using kind of a weak magnet to test it. Definitely worth doing if you want to use those old drums on the gig but don't want to take the original legs to the grinder. It also eliminates one of the big factors that causes scarring to finishes.

And as I said in my first post, it left a deep groove in my bench grinder stone. But hey, a stable bass drum is more important then a grinding wheel.

http://www.kutritemfg.com/dressers.php?gclid=COeS3KOPp7MCFYqZ4AodCi4ACg There is a link to a site that shows a grinding wheel dresser. You can get one for less than ten bucks up to whatever. They will keep your wheel squared, if you decide to continue making these legs!
