Well, this one drew me out! I have ALWAYS been a fan of the Meazzi kits since the first time I saw/heard one... then, they kind of totally disappeared. The fact that you have one in what appears to be FANTASTIC condition, just blows me away.
Here's a little something I think you will enjoy: The one and only Billy Cobham, circa 1968, playing with The Horace Silver Quintet. Billy is performing "Nutville" on this clip and on Meazzi drums. But did you check out the match grip then changing to.....reversed traditional grip? Never seen that before.

I think the only way he could execute the transition tom/snare rolls the way he did was to have the trad right hand. Just amazing.
Never seen any drummer as "one with the kit" as Cobham.

The "reversed" traditional grip of Billy Cobham isn't really reversed... well it is technically of course, but the reason is that he is left handed. What is different I think is the fact that Billy Cobham chose to play a right handed set-up, but with left handed traditional grip... that is just too cool... especially in 1968! The fact that he is just as strong with match grip, still on a right handed set-up, led to his mastery of the BIG KIT while with Mahavishnu and of course beyond. The guy is amazing! I have seen him LIVE at least 10 times over the years, with most of it happening in the mid to late 70's when he was THE MAN... and this is coming from a long time BR fan!

You are quite welcome! That is a great clip... equally great is Billy's playing with McCoy Tyner back in the day. Just as ferocious, and an excellent match for McCoy who is like the Billy Cobham of the piano. Just some great stuff in a pure jazz idiom!

HELLO,BOY DO I HAVE A STORY ABOUT THIS TYPE OF SET,SOME YEARS AGO AT A DRUM SHOP CALLED "DRUM CITY" IN HOLLYWOOD,CA[ROY HEARTE]. HAD A SET OF THESE 4 PC. IN W.M.P. NAME WAS HOLLYWOOD DRUMS BUT IT HAD A ELECIRIT BRIAN LIKE THE SIMMONS DRUMS OF THE 80S. SO MAYBE IT WAS A ELECIRIT SET OF THE 60S??EVERY TIME I WENT TO THE SHOP,TO BUY PARTS ABOUT VERY 2 WEEKS. HE ASKED ME IF I WOULDED TO BY THEM,I SAID NO FOR 300.00 WOW. IF I KNOW WHAT I HAVE FOUND OUT NOW I WOULD GIVE HIM MORE THAN 300.00..THE SHOP IS NO LONGER OPEN,I THINK I WILL TRY TO FINE OUT WHAT HAPPEN TO ROY.[HE OPEN THE SHOP BACK IN THE 40S AND CLOSED IT IN SOMETIME AFTER 2000.CryBaby MIKE

He was one of my boyhood heroes (I aimost gave up because of him) but I never actually saw him until about eight years ago (the Mahavishnu line-up that toured Oz back in the 70s had Narada Michael Walden in the seat) and that was in a very subdued jazz setting.
