Another innovation which contributes to the uniqueness of that set is the way one can quickly remove and change a head because of how the tension rods' clips fit on the hoop.

No need to unscrew them completely off.

Probably the precursor to all the quick release systems available today.

The sizes are the standard jazz ones: 18"x14", 14"x14" and 12"x8".

The shells are Gretsch like with the round edges and no reinforcement rings except for the top of the Multisound Tom-tom.

Understandable since the pulling of the head puts some strain on the shell.

Wow! That's a REALLY cool drum set, man! I've never seen one like it! I totally love the innovative features! Amazing! What a cool finish, too! Excellent! Thanks foor sharing. They look like really well made drums.

The lugs look almost EXACTLY like the lugs on my old Zickos bass drum! The Zickos also sport the clips and slotted rims. I wonder which one was first. What year were your Hollywoods made?

This set was built in 1970.

I think they were produced from 1966 or 1968 to at least 1973.

If anyone has any info please let me know because I'm having a hard time finding any.

I've found a couple catalogues and an article by Chet Falzerano, who I know also owns a set, but that's about it.
