Just collected this drum...the seller got it form a lady in her 70's who when he visited her, she had lots of Rolling Stones memorabilia all around her house and she was waiting for the auction house to come and collect them. She said that the snare drum had once belonged to Charlie Watts but she didnt have any authenticity so hence this could not be put into the auction with the rest of the Stones stuff...Would be great if someone out there has a picture or any videos of this drum being played!!!

Dave; the drum has had the hoops replaced. Meazzi used diecast hoops.

Although, Charlie Watts, is mostly associated with Gretsch drums , he did play others before more or less settling on Gretsch. There are pictures of him on stage with a Trixon silver croco kit and something in the back of my mind , tells me I have also heard reference to him playing or dabbling with Meazzi.

apparently this snare is an early one so very pleased..

the owner told the story so I think it must be real as she didnt have to tell it..she hung around with the Stones back in the early years and that is why she had so much memorabilia..

been tring to find a photo or a you tube clip of the snare but no luck as yet!!

I also heard he definately had a Meazzi, so will keep on searching..

Anyhow still pleased I grabbed this one as it can be used with my meazzi hollywood kit...cheers again mate
