Hollywood Ace Question

This is a Chicago badge that I thought may have been pre 1958.

As a 5.5 x 14 with mahogany interior it looks like to me that it's a single ply.

But my question is on the Hollywood Ace's, when they where a solid shell, was that solid maple or mahogany? My guess is maple, thus making this a 3 ply. But it looks dark all the way through so that's why I need some help. They went to the 3 ply in 58', so I'm assuming that its the standard maple/mahogany 3 ply shell from 58' on.

It's tough to see without taking the head off, but I guess I'll have too.

My feeling is that this is a 58'-62' ish.

When they were solid, it was maple.

That's a 59 to 61 badge.

She's an odd duck, though, with the badge and tone control both to the right of the strainer.

Thanks Kevin, should I read anything into that? I'm pretty sure this wasn't a 1 off.

I just went and checked my other 2 Artist's and Sound King and they are all to the left.........what's up with that?
